@catsalad How come the good guy "extremists" are just complaining and the bad guy "extremists" are poisoning whole cities and consuming whole electric grids and reservoirs?
"Extremist" seems really usually malleable these days.
@catsalad It's tough place to be, to be a proponent of the technology, but not be proponent of the AI companies. I'm sure many would see my AI use and assume I was an "AI bro". Many folks can get quite ugly about it. I've managed to mute most of the "anti-AI extremists" I've come across, who seem to believe that any use of AI is killing the earth.
While you make light of it, it's a real source of toxic behavior on the fediverse. I have faced many ugly comments when I try to have conversations about AI topics.
... which only proves they don't actually believe it's inevitable
