The US state department is now offering grants of up to $3 million to MAGA-alligned groups in Europe, writes FT.
So let me get this straight…
Putin wages a war in Europe. That forces Europe to buy weapons from the US. Trump ads a 10 percent markup on those weapons to fill his coffers. He then spends money on advancing groups in Europe that are pro Putin. In short: The US is actively fighting against the democratic world by pushing the Putin agenda in countries fighting the Putin agenda.

We're currently living in a time of Schrödinger's Russia, where leftwingers in the West are routinely criticised for being 'Vatniks', tankies and communists for mentioning US interference in pre-war Ukraine, while Russia itself is a post-democratic, oligarch-run, imperialist state that has much in common with the USA under Trump's second term.
The current Trump Administration and their sponsors are not our friends, they are our enemy…
@randahl I think that lately also YouTube is being weaponized by the US Department of State. Lately in my recommendation feed, I often see videos the likes: "Europe is being overrun by migrants", "Europe is doomed", etc, even though I personally never watched or showed any interest in videos of such kind. This has a name by the way: psychological warfare.
@Enea90 I do not know what is going on, but I do not think this works by Hegseth calling Google and requesting the promotion of specific YouTube videos.
But YouTube recommend what many people seems to like, so if, say, many of your countrymen like a certain video, it may be suggested.
I sometimes get suggested videos of violence in public, and I always block these channels, but I suspect enough people like these videos so YouTube thinks it is good content.
@randahl I wouldn't be so sure, Randahl. US big tech companies do have deep ties to the American intelligence community and state apparatus.
I'll give you another example, after Trump got re-elected, when I searched for a particular world event on YouTube, I would get quite a few search results that were from Fox News. This did not happen before, and of course, I never watched anything from Fox News.
@randahl You are right in way, it is not that Hegseth or Rubio that ask Google to promote a particular video, but the algorithm can indeed be tweaked to promote particular national interests, and this is what I personally think is happening.
