My 9-yr-old daughter has some friends over to play. As is often the case when we have guests, they noticed one of the manual typewriters I restored. One of them claimed to be very familiar with typewriters.
After showing her how to put in the paper, she started typing. 3 letters later:
"Wait. Where's the erase?"
"There is no erase."
There was such a look of confusion.
"People used to backspace and type an X over a mistake." "Oh."
...
"Are you sure there's no erase?"
