I faced my fears (of glazing) and actually finished some ceramics pieces

my lil guy made a friend in the kiln

A kiln loaded with glazed pottery, mostly bowls and vases but two figurative pieces: my antelope headed kneeling figure, and a pot with a cartoonish face, made by someone else

colorful Dorothy Day! I think I’ve learned a lot about making busts since firing this, but I’m making an effort to both be happy with finished pieces and aware of how I will approach things differently next time

I tried a different technique for building this one and had a lot of fun (also a new type of clay which let me tell you smells very nice (like mud))

unexpected glazing results on these -- the studio misfired the bisque kiln as glaze, which I think is why they came out like this, instead of a rich reddish-brown
