at church the pastor got up and announced he was giving both a father's day prayer and a juneteenth prayer, how he was glad the tradition of celebrating juneteenth was spreading out from predominantly black churches. my mom naturally complained later that this was too woke and praised the black guest pastor for being more conservative abt it. the building's once again decorated with ai cartoon animals for vbs. the audio production team leader said they're recruiting. he seems funny. im considering joining the audio production team just to see if knowing more abt it gets me back into making music

if anything i hope this church is helping me with this thread's recurring theme of distinguishing authentic vs performative emotion. a family that's only been here a few months got up on stage to talk about how they were leaving the area, the dad awkwardly stumbled over to a bit about how his brother committed suicide and started crying in a tryna-hold-it-in way, then started uhh umm anding his way thru the rest of it cuz that bit wasn't tactically positioned for climax.
preaching today (for the first time) was a lawyer who volunteers at sunday school sometimes. he analogized EVERYTHING to lawyer shit to the point it felt like a bit, invoking jargon no one could possibly be expected to know. the substance of it was basic but he started tearing up at the end so he got a standing ovation. lowk i wonder if he used chatgpt for at least some of it cuz istg he did the "its not x, its y" thing every few seconds, every available opportunity
