If you are working on Fediverse software, you might have heard about FEP-8a8e, which is an upcoming standard to unitize how events (as in gatherings of people) are shared via ActivityPub.

Validation tools are neat for taking away mental load from developers; it's one thing to have deeply understood the spec, but being able to run a test suite against your implementation can give you another level of confidence in the standard compliance of your software.

Ideally these tools give you specific pointers to how exactly your implementation deviates from desired behaviour. Even better when they can point you to the exact relevant part of the spec, so that you don't have to trust the tool alone but can understand its reasoning. My tool does both by annotating specific *JSON values* with a message and *direct quotes* from the standard document.

ActivityPub is a web standard, so why not try to put it into more existing corners of the web? Many traditional Content Management Systems have features for presenting events to users, so we could extend them to speak ActivityPub so that people can talk about the events and share them with their friends.

This is exactly what @linos has been working on with https://event-federation.eu/ since 2023. He wrote plugins for already established WordPress event related Plugins and the FEP-8a8e. I'm now happy to be tasked with providing the validation suite to his work.
