@campuscodi Why no one is pointing out why Google is pushing local AI on Chrome?
One, so developers use it because it is the shiny new thing that will solve a lot of issues™ and blame users they are not using Chrome when this feature doesn't work in other browsers.
Two, it should be local because developers should use it free of charge. The user should pay the electricity bills.
It doesn't mean that this data will stay on the device: they will likely send samples of user data for training. The important part of being local is that it should be free and induce developers to use the feature. Soon they will start advertising it to developers like water "you can use AI on your website free of charge*!!!"
