Male fragrance sections at shops are always so sad. Would you like to smell like you just downed a bottle of gin, like a leather couch, or like you were sitting on the wrong side of a campfire? Women get all the nice fruits and flowers. This stuff shouldn’t be gendered anyway like most things.
Post
@Gargron I have been saying: Women’s shampoos are “peach” and “rose”, men’s shampoos are “tires” and “punch in the face”.
@Gargron
I wanna smell like the ocean, like pine forest, like fresh wood ;D
@Gargron is there a reason you can’t just buy the fragrance you prefer? I get the issue with gendered marketing but I think just buy what pleases you.
I would very much like it, if more women smelled like campfire istead of whatever they are spraying now...
@Gargron I miss Candie's for Men, the original from the 90's/2000's. It was a fresh, fruit-forward cologne with top notes of watermelon, but it was discontinued in the late 2000's. The online fragrance retailer FragranceNet makes a clone of it called "Exceptional... Because You Are" that's relatively close.
There's also a website called Fragrantica.com that has a search tool where you can tell it what sort of notes you are looking for or an existing fragrance that you like and it'll give you a list of suggestions to try. I've found several fragrances I like that way! And there are a number of men's fragrances that are fruit or floral-forward still in production that it can help you find!
@Gargron Issey Miyake Pour Homme and Clinique Happy For Men might cheer men up. A bit.
@Gargron I prefer musk. who wouldn't want to smell like an ox penis?
@Gargron That’s about what you can smell. The real reason of using fragrances is to feel attractive. Pheromones is the answer! You cannot smell these but they can certainly be effective: go round your genitals with your hands and then rub your neck and face. Have a pleasant evening going out without sofas, cigars, tar, motor oil or roses! 🥳😎😉
P.S. I never tried it myself but my friend did😂😂😂
@Gargron Paul Sebastian is pretty nice.
Clothing is sad too. I distinctly remember that back when we had H&M in this country, one of their largest stores in the city was 3 floors of roughy equal area, of which the bottom two were for women, and the top one was split about in half between men and kids. Other brands aren't as drastic, but they still usually devote very noticeably more floor space to women than to men.
@Gargron Yeah, I dont know why we need to smell like booze and leather. The only fragrance shop that I need is the bath and body aisle of my local grocery store. Brut Classic by Faberge has stood the test of time. It's a good clean smell that lasts a long time and it's cheap. That's the smell of a working man right there.
@Gargron Ladies get the best shoes too, in my experience. Too many times I've been intrigued by styles that turned out to be women's only. Maybe I want to wear something fun and colorful. 👟
@Gargron
Anything's better than an overdose of Old Spice! 🤮
@Gargron Male fragrances on my commute trains are far worse, even on early morning, trust me.
@Gargron there are the gender neutral ones too with vanilla and citrus
@Gargron Dudes. D00ds!
Mawaan had the last word on this.

@Gargron I feel the same in the clothes sections. Why do only women get to wear colors and patterns?
@Gargron I actually craft custom scents for people. My husband smells like cinnamon and citrus and ocean water. And everything I make is non toxic ✨
This is why I only use Patchouli ...
@Gargron Maybe this is gay thing but leather and campfire scents sound nice & hot, I wouldn't want my man smelling like artificial flowers and discount fruit juice. Or maybe it's the association where I find camping fun (smell of smoke) vs grocery store scents (I don't like masses of people) and pollen allergies (flowers).
No parfyme is always best though, people with good hygiene and natural (unique) scent is unmatched.
But in the end, nobody else has say in which shelf you buy stuff from.
@Gargron My husband loves Commes des Garçons. They don’t do the “gender” split https://comme-des-garcons-parfum.com/
@Gargron Labels and marketing strategies around fragrances are ridiculous. I share a set of unisex fragrances by Aesop with my female partner ranging from "earthy" to "floral".
@Gargron Males in the wild also seem to more frequently use overtly offensive fragrances in quantities that would kill a small horse.
Must be the same dynamic that motivates them to drive loud, oversized vehicles.
@Gargron
Mann könnte sich ja auch ein Frauen Parfüm benutzen, wenn ihm das mehr zusagt.
@Gargron Real men wear whatever they want.
Male fashion in general is like this.
Women have all manner of clothes and accessories. Walk by 10 women on the street, and you will see 10 outfits.
Walk by 10 men on the street, on the other hand, and you will see 1 outfit: pants, a T-shirt, and maybe some kind of jacket. On rare occasions you'll see a business suit. And if you see more than one business suit, all of them will look exactly the same. Not a single accessory between the lot of them, unless earbuds count.
Boring!
@Gargron You like a scent marketed for women, you got and use it! Scents have no gender. Perfume called Hommage a Homme is great on me (a woman), my husband uses my Perles perfume and it'd gorgeous on him...
@Gargron just buy the fragrances that smell nice to you. Doesn't matter if it's gendered, you can choose to live beyond that limitation imposed on your by some corporate execs at big fragrance.
Be free!
I'm a sucker for fruity / minty aromas, and I'm surprised they're so unpopular compared to the boring musks for men
