No spoilers, but I don't think it quite stands alone without the book. I highly recommend anyone who watches it have also read the book. Its great as a compliment to the book, not as a replacement for the book.
I am not a sci Fi fan, but a coworker recommended it highly so I went.
Would recommend.
I saw it in IMAX. Not sure if that enhanced anything, I think I would have enjoyed it the same in IMIN.
@mekkaokereke I read the book with some friends a few years ago. We agreed it would make a better movie than book, but I'm withholding judgment until I see the movie.
