@woe2you well the label is "dating" but I was under the impression "my date" implies the person you're on a date with at that moment, rather than someone you have an ongoing dating relationship with.
@alexisbushnell Agree with you there, "my date" is definitely a transient description. I've leant more toward "partner" than "girlfriend" as I've got older, no idea if that feeling translates to the Sapphic side.
When I went through my (very) stroppy phase in 1978, and much to her chagrin, I referred to my girlfriend/partner as my lover.
I thought partner could be misinterpreted as some sort of business relationship and I wanted to clarify the true nature of our relationship at a time when it was still shocking 🤷
