Yes, and...

The _first_ reporting duty, the _first_ level of responsibility has to be ecological. Not "environmental", with its implicit human exceptionalism. We must recognise that without soils, forests, coral reefs - all the "social" goods will be lost. Recentering the legal and moral framework of governance to decenter human preoccupations and replace that with a realistic appreciation that all our works are an interesting accidental feature of Life writ large -- that would be the core act of prudence.

You remind me of a research interview I did many years ago with one of the directors of Community Energy - https://communityenergyengland.org/guidance/what-is-community-energy/

We had to ask some set questions, several of which were predicated on the assumption that co-operative and social enterprise aims to directly benefit people. I confess I was a bit thrown when I asked something like 'Who would you say are your main beneficiaries ?' - and he answered "Well, other species really..."
