What are some writing hot takes? πŸ₯΅

Here are a few of mine (in no particular order).

1️⃣ Learn the rules so that you know whenβ€”and howβ€”to break them.

2️⃣ "Irregardless" should not be a word.

3️⃣ The Oxford comma is critical. Use it.

"Come meet Jane, a clown and a thief" states that Jane is a clown and a thief.

By contrast, "Come meet Jane, a clown, and a thief" indicates 3 different characters.

Mine: every use of the word β€œwhilst” is -5 aura points.

@benpate This is just a cultural difference, no?

"While" = American English
"Whilst" = British English

@hiramfromthechi

That could very well be. I still laugh about one time I saw American English described as "English (simplified)"

To my ears, "whilst" often sounds like someone trying to sound smart with a fancy sounding word.

But then to American ears, all British accents are an automatic +10 aura points, so maybe it evens out :)
