I have some pieces for my-notes that would be, in many ways, much better than what I’ve been posting lately.
But I can’t write them. Or, at the very least, I can’t publish them.

And this is fantastic on the one hand, but a sort of curse on the other. Who knows, maybe one day I will, perhaps in a less direct way.

It might seem sad, but it’s actually the opposite: when some of the best parts of your life can’t be told, it means you’ve lived through some definitely interesting experiences.

@stefano I have a number of “draft” posts saved on my computer from over the years. I’m not *planning* to publish them, but I’m also asking that my computer go to a friend who’s a writer if I die, and there’s a note to him saying that if he thinks they should be published, please do. (1/3)

My boss at my last job told me multiple times that I should write a book about some of my work experiences, as he thought my views on the industry were worth preserving, but he’s been much less enthusiastic as he’s heard some of the things I didn’t mention until after I was done working. (2/3)

So, I recommend you write them down while you remember details. Maybe you don’t ever publish them. Or maybe they’re only published after a suitable time has passed. But if you don’t write them down at all, they’re certain to be lost. (3/3)

@davepolaschek this is a very good advice. I should probably transform those simple notes in real posts, maybe in a sort of “do not open until” system. Uhm…I have some ideas…

@stefano Thanks. It also is more work, so only tackle it if you’re up to it. But there are things I wish I had written down while they were fresher in my mind, and currently that’s driving my thinking.

@stefano I know exactly what you mean. I‘m writing that stuff (analog, ink on dead trees) for my daughter. 😎
