After meticulously planning this week's food and deciding we're going to try and phase out plantbased meat alternatives, I was panic-shopping earlier and they had a bunch of Juicy Marbles plantbased steaks reduced to clear that I couldn't turn down, but need to use by tomorrowish. Have therefore decided to flip the whole schedule and am making steak and ale pie with sweet potato fries for Sunday lunch. Lovely. And I'm going to jolly well have a beer aswell. Hurrah!

Kitchen area (tiles etc). Two wooden chopping boards with a plastic one off to one side. Arranged are.... Sweet potatoes, mushrooms, onions, carrots, Parsnips, olive oil, a stock cube, two packs of Juicy Marbles plantbased steaks, pestle/mortar, salt, mustard, pastry, flour, knife, wooden spatula and peeler.

@TheBreadmonkey looks amazing. I looked them up and could not figure out what the steaks were made of on their own website, so finally found another website that explained it was soy protein.

@TheBreadmonkey

I think my favourite use of Juicy Marbles was tearing them into chunks and serving them in ramen, as they texturally resemble beef brisket somewhat. They really soaked up the ramen broth nicely. I think they will be amazing in a steak and ale pie for that reason and will soak up the gravy.

I'm also trying to avoid fake meats this year. Unsuccessfully, so far, I should say.

@TheBreadmonkey @Shivviness

These are questions, not challenges:

Why are you trying to phase out/avoid these?

Are things like tofu and seitan included as things you'd rather not eat?

@Fishercat @Shivviness

Just been relying a little too heavily on meat replacements, which are invariably ultra processed. I think tofu would be preferred but I'm mainly heading down the vegetable route.
