@hipsterelectron Help me out. I'm supporting a small cluster with a few hundred cores and a few dozen GPU's. I want to give users access via lmod to maybe ten applications. @spack (or @easybuild since I'm in London) will install hundreds of modules so I think that overcomplicates things. What's the best way to install them?

@benfulton @spack so i haven't been terribly familiar with module usage but i believe this section pertains to your precise use case https://spack-tutorial.readthedocs.io/en/latest/tutorial_stacks.html#module-files

There are a few issues though. For instance, we have a lot of modules generated from dependencies of gcc that are cluttering the view, and won’t likely be needed directly by users. Then, module names contain hashes, which prevent users from being able to reuse the same script in similar, but not equal, environments.
