January 2026 #Arctic sea ice extent was statistically tied (with last year) for the 2nd lowest on record for the month...

This was 1,310,000 km² below the 1981-2010 average. January ice extent is decreasing at about 2.85% per decade. Data: https://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index
