The term “white fragility” is rooted in the myth of white supremacy.

Once it moved beyond academic theory and into everyday language, it became something else entirely: a shield.

A shield that allows racist behavior to be reframed as discomfort.
A shield that turns accountability into something optional.
A shield that asks everyone else to tread lightly around white people’s feelings and reactions to truth.
