This is absolutely devastating news.
Slapton Sands, and the road that runs (ran) along its length, known as Slapton Line are a magnificent part of the South Devon coastline.
The Line separates the sea from Slapton Ley, a freshwater nature reserve.
Torcross, at the western end of the sands, is a bustling little hamlet with a pub that is popular with locals and tourists alike, and which serves some of the best fish and chips in England.
It looks like this is now all going to be lost.
Devastating.
