Someone please explain the physics of this

I just took a bad fall outside on the pavement. I was wearing jeans. Both my knees are bleeding but my jeans didn't tear

How do the jeans stay intact while my knees are scraped enough to be bleeding underneath?

[I'm mostly fine, maybe a sprained left wrist where all my weight landed. But this is a genuine question about my knees]

@kims Jeans wouldn’t budge unless there’s some sharpness involved at the point of impact. But a moderate point of impact with blunt force would still make you bleed
