@mekkaokereke As someone who grew up in rural Oklahoma where it was taught as 'the war of Northern Aggression' (though the South did all the tantruming and initial invading) YES, I can be contemptuous of the who pretend it wasn't about slavery. It's literally directly written as a cornerstone of their constitution and the signed upon reason for their insurrection. This information is available in the culture at large. Racists are ignorant by choice.

But there is a difference between "should have seen it," and "have seen it." 🤷🏿♂️
A lot of people have literally never seen the documents you're referring to.
Strictly pragmatically, if I have to fight 100 racists, I like to better my odds first. If 10 of those racists are only "racist by accident," or "racist by ignorance," I want to take them out first. I can do that just by sharing some knowledge.
Then it's not even 1 against 90. Because many of those 10, become anti-racist advocates. It becomes 11 against 90. We're getting somewhere!
That's why racists are so afraid of this knowledge.

It just infuriates me as I was raised in racist conservative rural Oklahoma and am about as white as they come, and I was fed the same soft-sell they were and yet they chose to lie about it and I'll say it is lying/willful ignorance most of the time. I bickered with them when I was a kid. Most of em chose to ignore the evidence.
