#Spotted at a Kai* Festival in Aotearoa New Zealand:
A cheerful man (30s?) resting on crutches, holds his arms out to an approaching group of people and roars: "Kia ora whānau!* So good to see you!"
He's asked what happened to his foot and looking abashed he laughs, saying: "My bike bit me eh."
A tiny human (2?) is holding a toy wooden train that is almost as big as he is.
Mum asks what he would like to eat and Tiny Human consults his toy train.
Apparently all discerning locomotives like eating fresh strawberries with extra chocolate sauce and marshmallows on top.
A small human (5?) holding a basketball is standing by a hāngī* stand.
Totally earnest, he says: "Hey. Uhm, Uncle Tama, can I show you a trick? Not the one I was just doing but a new one that's even better!"
Uncle Tama grins and says: "Chur*! Of course bro!
(The trick is magnificent.)
A woman (50s?) dressed in swirling colourful clothes with purple hair is holding a basket full of balloons and lollypops, greeting small humans as they enter the festival. She's met with huge grins and little dances of excitement.
Will it be a balloon or a lollypop?
Hmmm. Maybe both.
Two small humans (4 & 6?) are besides themselves when they spot "poop cakes"--chocolate cakes shaped like poop emojis.
Snorting and laughing and guffawing, their entire life is now centred on getting a poop cake.
All they have to do is convince Dad it's a great idea.
