RE: https://layer8.space/@killyourfm/115985925727223431

It really is wild that the primary claim to fame for the Windows OS outside the world of "enterprisey" was that it was THE gaming OS. When people say a game is out "for PC" they mean out for Windows.

And yet…

#Linux is now a better gaming OS in many cases. Linux! Even with a translation layer!

#Microslop has allowed every other OS vendor to kick them in the gonads. Like I said, it's WILD.

I'm not really a gamer, but all can say is: Go #LinuxGaming !!

@jaredwhite Only a few years ago, it would be practically an EVENT when Linux had a gaming performance win over Windows. To have all these games even perform at parity, much less better, is absolutely wild.

Those open source graphics gurus are really working their magic.

@jaredwhite the term "PC" being used interchangeably with windows has annoyed me for at least a decase. I'm using remote, shared Windows boxes for work, and it's so weird seeing windows have "This PC" strewn about.

@benjistokman Oh it's multiple decades now. One of the reasons BeOS couldn't catch on in the late 90s was because Micro$oft had deals with hardware OEMs that they literally could not give consumers a choice of OS or Micro$oft would pull all their special pricing and charge the OEMs full price.

They've never wanted ANYONE marketing PCs as being multi-OS friendly.
