OUCH! "It’s one of those rare, unicorn films that doesn’t have a single redeeming quality. I’m not even sure it qualifies as a documentary, exactly, so much as an elaborate piece of designer taxidermy, horribly overpriced and ice-cold to the touch"

@cstross Punitive tariffs on the UK incoming?
@cstross “The star rating for this film was corrected on 2 February 2026. A formatting issue led an earlier version to be awarded one star, when the reviewer’s intention was zero.”
@cstross It's like when you go to see a MAJOR MOTION PICTURE in an IMAX theatre, and the previews are all rattles, swooshes, and wooshes before the movie begins, with dark, soulless visuals and muffled, indecipherable vocals that leave you craving subtitles like a villain in a particularly bad Batman movie... but it's just your First Lady.
@cstross "Designer taxidermy" - yikes
@cstross You can't make a movie about a person that has nothing to say.
@cstross The comparison to Zone of Interest is very clever. The banality of everyday life while the horror is right there.
@cstross So, I get this right, all these reports of "Only one ticket sold for the opening night" actually just refer to fhe local film critic?
@cstross Looks like a script for the Bond villain of our times: vapid, more vapid and carelessly destructive in OTT white and gold.
@cstross I see we've found the one person who bought a ticket
@cstross Whew, thanks for the heads up.
LOL. I wasn't going to see it.
@cstross
this is the opposite of the hooker with a heart of gold trope, i''m guessing
@cstross "White and gold – that’s so you,” purrs one of her lickspittles... Lickspittles!
