Picture from a friend.

There's some sort of Talos Principle Of Systems Administration in this world. Large model this, cloud that, doesn't matter: there's always going to be somebody in a server room, and they're always going to have diagonal cutters to hand, because that day's always coming. You are never far from the physical layer.

@mhoye that looks lile an SFP+ connector but I've never seen one with that little metal retainer attached to the fiber. What's wrong with it?

@gabrielesvelto That little metal bar is usually closed up against the module, so you can disconnect the fiber first and then pull the SFP module out separately, without pulling on the fiber. In this picture that clip has been wedged into the fiber latches, so the fiber isn't set properly, but also can't be removed, and the SFP won't seat right either. I think whoever did this did this will need to cut the blue plastic bits and re-terminate the fiber if they want to keep the SFP.

@mhoye ah yes! I didn't realize it was the latch to pull it out. It's been a while since I've touched one... And I mostly handled either direct attach copper or gigantic QFP ones for Infiniband so I don't really know my way around fiber.
