I always though it was a *(yellow brick) road*, but on closer investigation it seems it's a *yellow (brick road)*, a brick road painted yellow.

@threedaymonk except in the books (where the shoes are silver too and it is all wrapped up in adding a silver standard to the gold standard in the late 19tch century)
