FIRST 5 THINGS TO DO IF A LOVED ONE IS ABDUCTED BY ICE
1. Have their USCIS Alien Number (aka their "A-number") on hand. This is generally found in the top right corner of their immigration paperwork.
2. Use this link to find out where they are being detained: https://locator.ice.gov/odls/#/search
3. Inform their Consulate of their detainment. The Consulate can assist with essential services like communication, welfare checks, and help finding an immigration attorney. Use this link to locate the Consulate nearest you: https://www.consulate-info.com/?lang=en
4. If you're unable to find an immigration attorney through the Consulate, use this link as an additional resource: https://www.ailalawyer.com/
5. Once you find an attorney, have them file a G-28 form ASAP. This form ensures your attorney is officially recognized by the government so they can communicate with USCIS, CBP, and DHS on your loved one's behalf, halting any attempts at an unlawful deportation.
