“WA Senate passes bill barring masked law enforcement” https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/wa-senate-passes-bill-barring-masked-law-enforcement/

The feds will sue if/when state enforces a law like this against them. But every state should pass such a law. The American Civil War II demands legislation like this from every state committed to fighting Republican Fascism.

@heidilifeldman California passed a similar law, effective Jan 1, 2026. But the feds have sued and as far as I know it isn't being enforced for now. The LA County sheriff's department said they won't enforce it until the court fights are over.

@heidilifeldman every state should pass this type of legislation. Masking under the cloak of the law can be likened ti the anonymous executioner at the gallows. The American citizen has the right to face their accuser, LEO SHOULD IDENTIFY THEMSELVES , state their name, authority, and purpose, full stop! Masking marauders should cease.

@heidilifeldman at the end of the civil war, the guy in power stayed in power.

I think the term you’re thinking of here is revolution.

Well… unless you think states would band into two sides and fight each other? Idk… the term civil war doesn’t seem appropriate here. Until something crazy happens like a general from the US national guard that says “we’re gonna deploy troops to detain and stop ICE agents”…

Dang that’d be crazy.

Yep, and also, "the feds will sue" is exactly the dynamic we want, because it puts the Nazis on the back foot. Even if the end results were guaranteed to be the same (which they're not), it's still much better to make the Nazis have to sue to wreck things, than it is for the sane folks to have to sue to fix things.

@heidilifeldman Isn't there sort of already something to this effect? Eg that they *must* properly identify themselves by federal law or something? (Obviously excluding undercover, but ICE is not an undercover agency in the first place...)

@nazokiyoubinbou ICE allowed to operate without identifying info displayed unless under court order to do otherwise as happened in Chicago. May mask.

@heidilifeldman I really thought there was something that specified officers must identify themselves? Or does it just somehow only apply to police? Or have I completely misunderstood something?

(I know they're doing it actively of course, but they're breaking lots of laws actively, so I don't draw conclusions from that.)
