I know there's a lot of hate for that film but I'm afraid I also love that for that exact reason. What this says about me is unclear. I'm apparently really into violent death in dystopian tower block settings. Bit niche.

Great. Cheers mate. I'm supposed to be going to bed and now I've put The Raid 2 on. My only hope is that my brain will somehow allow me to pause it and go to bed at some point. Which as we all know is unlikely. Instead I'll be up until 2 and then go to bed doing pencak silat moves and will wake Trish up and she'll be furious.

I had it on my list but actually I don't think I have seen Kill List. I like Ben Wheatley so it's weird I haven't. A field in England by him is odd but I liked it.

Dead man's shoes is one of my favourite films and I like Shane Meadows generally. It's like a gritty Mike Leigh film crossed with US mafia movies, compelling.

Pans labyrinth is a top tier recommendation, I assume you've seen it but if not, definitely do.

Generally anything disturbing I veer from these days. The ballad of Wallis Island was my favourite film of 2025. If you've not seen it, highly recommended. Gentle and lovely, a Sunday night film if ever there was one. Weirdly, 2 days after seeing it, I literally (very nearly) bumped into its star and creator, Tim Key, at the airport.
