a mosaic-tiled floor / tessellated pavement which, disappointingly, is actually made up of lots of normal square tiles with tessellated tiles on them. it's old — at least 100 years and the colours are all muted — but definitely industrial.
the pattern is repeating:
blue and darker blue (and dark red and sage green) eight-petalled flowers with dark grey borders in blue octagons surrounded by a cream and grey square with another cream and grey square threaded through it at a diagonal (to form an eight-sided star)
and
cream and blue (and red and olive green) eight-petalled flowers with dark grey borders in dark cream octagons surrounded by the borders of the squares that surround the other flowers. every so often, there are dark grey diamonds whose borders are formed by the gaps created by the other shapes.
i hope that makes some kind of sense!
