If you consider going to the US, whatever the reason, don’t, for your own safety.
If you consider organizing an event to the US for an international community, you’re putting people’s lives at risk.
If you want an English-speaking environment for an international event, pick Canada or the UK. Heck, even in Scandinavian countries everyone speaks English.

@thibaultamartin I am an American, I DO NOT recommend anyone outside the US to travel to the US.
@thibaultamartin and Netherlands. Most people I know in the Netherlands speak better English than some Americans I know.
Don't have international events here... we suck for now and deserve to be ignored. That orange asshole makes that difficult, but he will die soon.
And skip the US to deprive the travel/tourism/whoever industries of your hard earned money. Doubly applies to FLORIDA.
@thibaultamartin By all means, skip the US visit. All of the institutions that once guaranteed rights, privileges, and safety have been commandeered by mad fascist who see evil in everyone with a foreign passport.
@thibaultamartin Most of Western Europe speaks fluent English. France and Germany are 50/50 (Spain also I think?) mostly young people, but The Netherlands is the same as Scandinavia. Everyone speaks good-to-excellent English. Easily reachable, great infrastructure and locations suitable for big gatherings. etc
@thibaultamartin my MIL complains that every shop and caffe in Copenhagen requires her up speak English 😊 - so yeah. Not a problem in Copenhagen. :)

@steltenpower As a Frenchman myself, I am “pas surpris” that my country ranks rather low.
@thibaultamartin Or the Netherlands, we all speak English, and Schiphol is a major international hub airport, so plenty of flights, and our public infrastructure is excellent.
@jonkoops Netherlands ranks fairly high on my list of countries for Matrix Conf 2027 :)
I also might not be responsible for too many more Matrix Conferences, but as long as I’m in charge I will never consider the US as an option.
American folks are very welcome wherever we organize them, but I can’t put our whole audience at risk of being abducted.
