Goodyear developed illuminated tires in the early 1960s using a translucent synthetic rubber called Neothane, featuring internal bulbs to glow in colors like red, green, or white for futuristic styling and enhanced visibility, but they never reached production due to severe safety and performance issues, including poor wet grip, overheating, and distraction, ultimately remaining a fascinating concept car relic.
