A sobering analysis of how the Canadian military would fare if #Trump tried to conquer #America’s 🇺🇸 northern neighbor.

The military would fall within 48 hours, & my guess it would take less than a month for the rest of Canada 🇨🇦 (the civilian population) to fall soon after.

Canada military models response to US invasion: report

The Canadian military has developed a model response to a US invasion, the Globe and Mail reported Tuesday, as President Donald Trump again muses online about a takeover of Canada.The Globe reported that the officials believe it is unlikely that Trump would order an invasion of Canada.

@darnell There would definitely be Canadian resistance blowing up the occupying US military for decades, not days. The oil piplines would be constantly out of service.

@pre I hope so! Fortunately, the US military would refrain from invading Canada. That would cause a massive outrage and riots within the US as well!

@darnell this article doesn’t state anything about the 2 days. Have they edited it or did you read the report they are referencing (but they didn’t link).

I wonder if they assume the full force of the US, assuming they aren’t tied up elsewhere.

But yeah, all our population centres are within striking distance of the border, logistics and support are difficult across the width of the nation.

@leroy I read a similar article that said Canada would last one week. I think Canada needs nuclear weapons!

@darnell I disagree. It adds tremendous risk, adds incentive to be attacked during the procurement process and creates such disaster for several generations.

Chernobyl wasn’t even a deliberate event and has tainted hunting meat hundreds/thousands of kilometres away to this day.

@darnell

Didn't Putin think it would take like 2 days to take Ukraine?

@doctorwhom Putin thought it would take a week to conquer Ukraine 🇺🇦.

This assessment was done by Canada’s 🇨🇦 military (I think they would last a lot longer, but that is my opinion).
