Been having a paperwork day. Realised I screwed up some paperwork which will probably cost me another couple of hundred euros in not being able to get reimbursements for doing my job.
It was my mistake, but still, feels like the world shouldn't really work like that. Feels like someone like me having paperwork days to wade through this stuff probably isn't doing anyone much good either really?
Feeling small, sighing big.
@JubalBarca I feel you. Paperwork sucks, and the systems are usually excellent at fining you when you make a mistake, but show no leniency the other way around.
@mahryekuh Absolutely, yes. I just feel so miserable after wading through this stuff, I've been dealing with four unis and their different rules in the last week or two and it's impossible to keep it all in order mentally.
I'm lucky insofar as it's an upsetting annoyance rather than a genuine catastrophe to suddenly end up with a three-figure sum down the bureaucracy drain for me: but it must make the field very much more hostile for working class academics who don't have that slight leeway.
