#WritersCoffeeClub 1/18: Are you comfortable making a reader uncomfortable?
Maybe too comfortable.
Something I learned early with my creativity (mostly for stage but it applies to writing) is that its fine to go outside your own comfort zone. And as theater and most art is a transaction between artist and audience, that means your audience will be outside their comfort zone.
I think that's usually a good thing. It gives us the slightly unnerving, creepy character in horror, it's the root of comedy and tension.
It can absolutely be taken too far, though.
