#WritersCoffeeClub January 17: What’s frustrating you, writing-wise?
I started writing a near-future dystopia a decade ago and now, by book 3, the real world has basically caught up to the world I'm depicting, minus the magic. It's very hard writing things that are worse than what I can see on the news.
@youseeatortoise I’ve had a similar experience… writing about authoritarianism in a fantasy world and then seeing elements of my book playing out in front of me :(
I’ve had to shift my focus. I want to keep writing in this word and in this story, but to save my sanity, I have focused more on the magic and mythology than on the politics and abuses of power.
