(via lefty group chat, who got it via via sundersays.bsky.social)

Seems that UKIP are applying to the Electoral Commission (page here: https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/political-registration-and-regulation/political-party-registration/current-applications-update-party-registrations) to change up their logo and ah... well... it's a teensy tiny little bit christo fashy with flavours of iron cross and crusader cross, and its making some people I know a little nervous.

#UKPol #UKIP

Screenshot from the electoral commission website. Text reads: UK Independence Party (UKIP). Part of the UK that this application applies to: All of Great Britain. Proposed emblem:

The proposed emblem has the text UKIP on the right, with the subtitle THE NEW RIGHT. On the left is basically a cross pattée (a Christian cross with 4 equal sized arms, narrow at the centre that widen out to equal sized wide bits at the perimeter) with a double circle at the centre, and a spear as the back layer that runs bottom left to top right where its point is.

It is reminiscent of the German Iron Cross or some variants of a Templar Cross and has christofascist vibes.

@morix They're FINALLY saying the quite part out loud, now Noisesome Nige has moved on to bigger things and isn't holding the bin lid down on top of their collective id.

@cstross I think so, no ones keeping them in check in the optics department so they're going pretty full mask off, presumably now that Reform are doing their previous act.
