So annoying that macOS doesn't have the option to set the menu bar background colour! It's either blurred background (looks terrible), or no background (looks even worse)

I know about Top Notch but it doesn't work very well with multiple monitors in the later macOS versions. I actually emailed the devs about it and they say it's a limitation in the new system APIs 😑
While I'm complaining about macOS, it's interesting that in this article: https://daringfireball.net/2026/01/resizing_windows_macos_26 @gruber recommends to avoid upgrading to Tahoe, or even downgrade from it.
But I assume that machines that ship with Tahoe are not downgradeable, so that'll only work for so long. I can't imagine Apple backpedaling on the crappy UI in Tahoe in just a year's time!

@gosha im "old enough to have used windows/gnome/xfce/kde in anger" so I'm happy that most things still work even if a little ugly.
