I have a pet theory that the West's ideological rejection of material dialectics fundamentally shaped Western approach to economics. It required a new, idealist theory the eschewed the idea of systemic behavior, resulting in a modern economic understanding utterly divorced from material reality.

But it's like positivism/neopositivism is extremely reactionary in practice, but for reasons most people aren't ready to talk about.
