I had a little local blog back in the aughts. There were certain controversial topics that would get me hundreds of hits, sometimes close to a thousand. I caught myself sliding towards shitposting to get engagement and decided I hated it. I eventually shut the whole thing down.
There's a few things I wrote that like 75 people looked at but some of it actually changed local policy later. Nobody cares about that high engagement stuff now.
