we treat the delusions of our society as universal truths

and we take the people who've managed to squeeze themselves into society's provided boxes as some kind of undifferentiated mass of "normal cis people"

and then we take their existence as the proof that our society does reflect universal qualities of humanity

but actually all that's happening is we really want to fit in, and a lot of us manage to, with differing degrees of personal cost
