Almost find the self-centredness of Global North (for the lack of better term) people hilarious. Comments surrounding this news is met with 'oh no, thats bad', 'Im not gunna go' blah blah blah
Biometric data being collected on borders are now trending amongst all of you, people, because its now affecting people who have historically floated through borders on imperial privilege.
Suddenly, theres talk of surveillance, Orwellian and freedom. For most of us, especially people from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the colletion of biometrics have been baked into mobility for decades. We want to visit a "First World" "Developed Country"? Were expected to hand over our fingerprints, a scan of our iris, a full financial history, and proof well go back home, as if were guilty until proven worthy of tourism.
You didnt mind when the surveillance state was brown, Black, poor or stateless people being stripsearched by algorithms. Now that you’re facing a diluted version of the same system, you expect outrage, sympathy, solidarity. Own the system you benefited, let grow. U dont get to pretend this is something new.
Not saying your point that biometric collection is bad, but where was the fucking outrage when we with poor passports, have to basically give our autobiography for entry. Double standard hypocrisy.
