We should build a federated LinkedIn alternative. I think the purpose of LinkedIn is legitimate - there is a need for business-focused social networks. But LinkedIn is just a steaming hunk of garbage.

@sigmasternchen @elduvelle IMO the fundamental use case of LinkedIn is matching people with jobs, i.e. allowing recruiters to find candidates and vice versa, and each providing enough information to enable the other to do so. Maybe a combination of searchable, self-hosted, “résumé-style” static pages, plus a way to DM each other privately, is all we need to start with. It can all be federated.
