Wow some Lords have created an amendment that would age-gate all online user-to-user services to ban all under 16s. This would include online games like Fortnite or Minecraft, messaging apps, alongside social media. It goes way further than Australia. https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3909/stages/20215/amendments/10027477 #onlinesafety #ageAssurance

@JamesBaker Those same Lords also want age verification for VPNs and all phones and tablets to come with pre-installed magical software to prevent the creation, viewing or sharing of child sexual abuse material (CSAM): "any relevant device supplied for use in the UK must have installed tamper-proof system software which is highly effective at preventing the recording, transmitting (by any means, including livestreaming) and viewing of CSAM using that device." That's not even possible... is it? 🤔

@JamesBaker I don't know this Bill, but presumably 'regulated user-user services' in the amendment refers to the OSA?
