"What's I'm doing is focused very much on my job. As I keep saying; polls, commentariat, rumours, my job is to get on with the country, and getting it sorted for people."

#CLuxon, speaking to Ryan Bridge in 2025

Oh dear. The political truism regurgitation machine has started stringing random clauses together into vaguely sentence-shaped objects, which don't really hang together (they also don't mean anything but that's not new.

I remember Todd Muller (well, I had to look up his name, but ...) spitting out semi-random verbiage like this. Clearly the end isn't far away for CLuxon.

Someone on The Bradbury Group described the late Dec/ early Jan period as "the killing fields" for party leaders. The theory is, I guess, that most people are focused on our families and holiday plans. So less attention is being paid to political news - even bleeding meat news like a leadership coup - than at any other time of year.

I'm willing to put money on the Nats having a new leader by the time Parliament starts up again in 2026. I don't believe CLuxon will survive long enough to announce the election date as PM unless he does it soon.
