Rhyming is a tool in the poets box. It can be a wonderful tool when applied properly. Sometimes it is applied like a blunt instrument and it fricking hurts.

I prefer complex rhyme schemes to simple ones, but I've seen some beautiful poems done in a simple AABB scheme, so again it comes back to how it's used.
