In the latest post in my history of blogging and RSS series, I look at the emergence of the blogosphere in 2002 — a thriving ecosystem of colourful personal sites that interconnected to each other via RSS, trackback and blogrolls. 2002 also saw the debut of RSS 2.0, Technorati and Google News. https://cybercultural.com/p/blogs-rss-2002/ #InternetHistory #Blogging

@ricmac Thanks, interesting! I rediscovered RSS a year or so ago and haven't looked back. My quest began with trying to find a simple way to access feeds in a coordinated way using more than one device. I settled on Miniflux which they host for nearly free. I now use it happily on my own freedombox server to follow all sorts of things including your blog.

@ricmac I greatly appreciate your post. I started my own blog - learningaloud - in 2002. I worked at a university and because I was allowed a static IP I could use my Mac as a server. I have moved the blog several times since, but it also is still active.
