I swear the world is filled with misinformation now as journalism declines and all of the other info-nonsense going on. Yesterday a friend on Kauai said she'd heard mosquitoes were being released to "feed the birds" and was horrified some government agency was adding mosquitoes to the island.
The mosquitoes are infected with bacteria that makes their offspring infertile & the project is to save endemic birds from avian malaria. Nobody reads, it's all a game of telephone.
