I really can't stand "well intentioned" people who actively dissuade people from safe platforms like Signal. I consider these people to be unethical, short sighted, and actively malicious

I've been teaching people about it since it was two apps, textsecure and redphone, and the axolotl protocol. remember encrypted SMS? I do. I also remember it's taken 10 years to convince enough of the world to hop onto a progressively better platform that provides measurable safety guarantees, and I think people just take it for granted now. in non-technical circles, people now know and actively use Signal. that's incredible, if you simply remember what it was like 10 years ago

it's completely legitimate to criticize platforms that are designed for safety. it's not legitimate to spew fear and disinformation because Signal doesn't meet your subjective idealism
