I feel like we've drifting away from the point of your original post; how to tell a human musician from a Trained #MOLE humming tunes, which you can do by seeing whether they play live shows.

But I'm a curious fella, so feel free to tell me why you like foreign music more than local music : )

@strypey I just did a test if my ears can detect ai slop. Searched on yt and there is a lot of them.
Result: they are actually pretty hard to tell 😬

And why I like foreign music , I actually don't know myself. Maybe most music here is like love , love and love.

Yup. Some of it is even conceptually clever (Nirvana's Nevermind reimagined as 60s psychedelia), but IMHO it lacks a human spark.

I haven't done any blind listening tests yet, but I think I can tell. I've listened to a *lot* of music (recorded and live) over a lot of years, and played in a few banda. There's a kind of flatness to Trained #MOLE music.

I remember being unimpressed with the music on Chinese radio. Most of it sounded like turgid, easy listening Christian worship music. But I remember mainstream kiwi music being mostly like that in the 1980s, meanwhile there was loads of fantastic music being made in the underground. Maybe in both cases I needed to dig a bit deeper? Just saying ...
