@cheeaun I wonder if there should be: a) some message about where this came from, b) require a manual confirmation to populate it this way, as I imagine cases where this description would not be far from being enough to qualify as a good alt text, but you'd not notice and submit the post as if it had a description.
@kizu I thought about (a) and realised that the GIF picker is already doing that if you enable it on Phanpy.
There’s a discussion regarding (b) in the github issue but it was mainly due to Mastodon showing the alt field in another modal, instead of inline on Phanpy. I could add some nice fade-in effect on the pre-filled description if it’s too abrupt to be noticeable.
@cheeaun I would personally prefer not a prefill, but a button that appears and allows you to populate the field, so the agency is with a user, but it is not a strong opinion, haha.
@kizu I honestly not sure what’s the right way. I do know that Ivory and Mona had this feature for a while, so maybe need to check them out.
@cheeaun yay!!! I embed alt text on my photos directly from Darktable and this will make posting much easier. Are you pulling this from exif.imagedescription?
